The challenge
Maintaining transparent communication and cultivating an engaging culture within a global organisation is no small task. This is what Hitachi Energy realised, which prompted them to get in touch with us.
Their Internal Communications team faced the challenge of working across multiple countries and wanted to nurture psychological safety to further drive a high-performing and purposeful organisation. So, we got to work on developing a framework to educate their team on the concept, and how to embed it throughout all of Hitachi’s operational communications.
Our Reveal-EX™ solution perfected Psychological Safety for Hitachi's Internal Communications Team.
The solution
To get everyone on board and on the same page, we used our innovative Reveal-EX™ solution to create an interactive workshop for the Internal Communications team. The workshop aimed to achieve several key objectives:
- Educate the team on psychological safety and its positive impact on communication and performance.
- Identify specific areas for improvement in psychological safety based on the results of the Reveal-EX™ survey.
- Equip the team with practical tools and strategies tailored to their unique communication sub-categories, including Strategic Direction & Company Culture, Operational Information & Procedures, and Performance Management & Development.
The impact
The workshop extended beyond educating participants about psychological safety; it also incorporated a series of tailored activities that encouraged reflection on personal definitions and examined how recent experiences, including the Reveal-EX™ survey, had shifted their perspectives.
Participants also analysed team dynamics and communication strategies while focusing on practical applications of psychological safety, using “cheat sheets” that covered various communication strategies. With these tools, they developed action plans for specific opportunities and challenges.
Insights from the workshop were also integrated into individual performance goals, ensuring that psychological safety would continue to underpin communication in the long term.

“It was great to educate the team on what psychological safety is and is not, and how it impacts not only employee engagement and company performance, but all of us individually.”
